this is for the ever so lovely rain!

there was this scent lingering in the air, somehow pure and simple, like you could smell the crystal clear sky or maybe a cup of cold water. it irritated her in a certain way, for some rather obscure reason, though one would say she'd be aware of her actions. but josephine was an odd girl, a paradox, a riddle on two legs. and right now her defined face was scrunched up in a frown, because so far, her day wasn't going as planned. her hair was a particulary disgusting shade of blonde and her clothes were uncomfortable and she was outraged because professor lainey yelled at her. she didn't exactly remember why, but he did and it definitely wasn't fair – she was an emery, for crying out loud! his face was repeatedly showing in her mind and she was sure it's a constant reminder of people's unjustice, obstinately ignoring the feeling that she got something wrong. josephine deserved every bit of admiration this world contains and no one should even think of declining his or her share. he's a jerk, she decided while walking aimlessly around the campus. at last, she found herself standing by the fence that separated tennis court from the pathway and she stopped at halt, crossing her arms angrily. she didn't notice a flash of pink hair dangerously nearby, nor did she sense the presence of another human, and that alone was weird. but her thoughts, mostly filled with unpleasant events of that day, were occupying all of her senses. a pair of pale blue eyes was gazing at the palm trees, but she did not see them. control. don't lose control. you'll regret it. keep in control, emery. keep in control. a repetitious matra, cold and impersonal, but ever so necessary for her own good. she must never forget who she is. josephine, just like her mother. so strong and so, so brilliant. with that on her mind, she turned around, meaning to walk away, but there was this little obstacle. »rainbow.«

she was having such a lovely day, walking around the campus aimlessly and smiling to herself about the beauty of pretty much everything. it was an amazing day and she loved it. but then again she loved every day and she tried her best to live it to the fullest. that usually meant that she was walking around, painting or sketching things and hugging random strangers who seemed sad or angry or upset or all of that together. she was generally a very happy person and she loved to make other people just as happy. she was going towards the greenhouse because she fell in love with the flowers the first time she was there, but then she noticed a slim person she recognized immediately. josephine! lovely, amazing josephine was standing there all by herself and she sensed something lovely about her. she didn’t hesitate at all, she just turned and walked right up to her. she was about to say something when the blonde turned around and said her name out loud and she automatically smiled at her. it was a wide, honest smile. ”josie!” she said, her voice dreamy and happy as usual. she could call her josephine like everyone, but she refused to do that. it was such a lovely name and for the first few times they talked she was just testing different nicknames for her until she finally decided that josie fits her the best. ”hi josie!” she exclaimed and titled her head. ”you seemed sad so I decided I’d give you this,” she smiled at her again and pulled a folded piece of paper on which she was drawing today. ”you should be happy, josie. you are an amazing person,” she added and nodded in agreement with her own words.

okay, so i love the nickname. and josie is really mad and god she's so mean, i'm sorry!

rain was probably the last person josephine wanted to see at that moment, because really, her integral optimism and general kindness were awfully annoying. she despised this kind of people for their weakness (as she was convinced that all sorts of positive emotions were nothing but a sign of feebleness) and was proud of her own strenght. emerys do not succumb to emotions because they are solid and they are powerful. rain, on the other hand, was just an incredibly naive pink-haired girl with an obnoxious obsession with flowers – her life was doomed. usually, josephine would laugh at her dreamy voice and confusing statements, but not today. she was angry and she was scowling and she didn't want her here. not at all. »who gave you the right to call me 'josie' she retorted, outraged once again by the insolence of her peer. how dare she call her by a stupid nickname that doesn't even suit her? she is josephine, her mother is josephine and that's all. it was clear that she'd curse if it wasn't for the fact that she's a lady and ladies talk with a class. »i'm not sad. i'm never sad.« her frown deepened and it was getting closer to the point where her eyebrows would touch, but she didn't want that because it looked horrible. »you're right, i am amazing, i've been told that countless of times. i don't need you to inform me about it,« she almost spat, but accepted the paper nonetheless. she's gonna have a lot of fun burning it when she's back at her room. her fingers wrapped tightly around the drawing and her eyes bored into rain's. »why aren't you talking to your flowers in the greenhouse? that's where you belong,« she smiled coldly and then added: »freak.«

don't worry about it, it is fun to see rain deal with that! :3 jo is amazing!

she let out a little laugh when josie spoke. who gave her the right? ”you don’t like josie? I could also call you jo. or poppy. or effie or sadie or even josephine, really, but I just can’t. I mean, you look like a josie. it really suits you.” she offered her an explanation she wanted and then thought for a while before adding: ”oh, no one gave me the right. but yeah, it suits you really well!” she happily announced and pushed a strand of pink hair behind while carefully observing her eyes and nodding in agreement with her words. ”okay, I understand. you might not be sad, but there is sadness in your eyes,” she said with a gentle tone of words and offered a reassuring smile with that like she would want to say ‘it is okay to be sad sometimes, you don’t need to worry about it or even talk about it if you don’t want to, but you should acknowledge it because it helps and I can help you as well and I am not going to tell’. well, it was close to that anyway. she looked at her as she spoke again and smiled. ”yeah, you are. but not amazing like that, you know? you are so much more than just amazing the way they told you,” her voice was quieter now, almost like they could hear her. rain felt like she could see the amazingness they were talking about, yeah, but it was different than the one josie was thinking about. she had no clue how extraordinary she was; but rain could see it. ”well I was going to go there, yes, but then I noticed you,” she shrugged like it was the most obvious thing in the planet. how could she just walk by? ”you are a fascinating human being, josie!” she smiled a little. she was immune to those nicknames. besides, she could see kindness in her. josie herself just wasn’t aware it was there.

josie is mad, but she's gonna love rain after some time, you know that.

she felt like puking. poppy, seriously? what was wrong with her? they were all beyond awful. rain was awful, to be honest. her pink hair was too bright and unnatural; girls were supposed to have brown or blonde or black or red hair, not green or blue or violet. it was inappropriate! besides, josie does not suit her at all. »i'm josephine and i hope i made it clear that i hate nicknames, which don't suit me at all for that matter.« it really infuriated her – every little thing made her angry that day. but this was no excuse and she kept herself in line through all of the unfortunate events. it was her duty. »there is no sadness in my eyes, stop over-analyzing everything. i'm just angry right now and you are one of the reasons for my bad mood,« she declared, narrowing her eyes at the meaningful smile rain has given to her. she was such a sentimental sucker. and josephine was even more mad at her because she let herself think of such a word, when it should never even enter her head in the first place. who was there to blame other than the pink-haired girl? oh, right, no one. »really, you are so nice! it's like you know me, but wait, you don't and you're talking nonsense. i know i'm amazing, gosh.« her voice was sharp as a blade, mercilessly cutting the quiet, reserved words. there was no such thing as 'beyond amazing', it just didn't make sense. »i... kindly suggest you to go there as fast as you can, because i don't want you here,« she squeezed through her gritted teeth. the thing in the back of her head made her feel bad about chasing rain away, although she knew it was the right thing to do. she is strong and she must not allow any obstacles to prevent her from climbing to the top. »i utterly dislike you,« she threw in to crown it all, not even trying to smile anymore.

rain is so fun to write with, i mean, look at her! XD

she couldn’t be angry with her – she couldn’t be angry with anyone for that matter, she loved life and people and simply everything way too much. and tulips. she loved tulips too. especially them, yes. ”well I think you would disagree with me if you would really thought about it. otherwise I am sorry I am upsetting you, but I can’t call you anything else than josie. you see, you look like josie and I can see it in your eyes. you are a josie,” she calmly explained without losing the spark in her eye. she was always optimistic and happy and she never lost faith in people. especially not in the lovely blonde in front of her – she knew she was perfect and she had the potential to be oh-so-lovely, she just wouldn’t let it show and it just made rain more convinced that she should help her with that. she was obviously brought up on a somehow different manner than rain, but that didn’t mean anything. rain knew. ”you should just relax, you know,” she suggested when josephine mentioned bad mood. well, angry, to be precise. she saw it, yeah, and she just wanted to make it go away somehow and as soon as possible. she was an amazing person in her eyes and she wanted her to feel like that too. she had a weird attachment to the blonde, but she didn’t care. ”did I ever tell you that I really like your hair? maybe I should get a tulip for you to put it in there. tulips are lovely. it would suit you,” she ignored her anger and focused on her long, beautiful hair. yeah, she should do that. she frowned a little when josie went on and she was looking at her now. ”I know,” she almost whispered and then, like nothing happened, stepped forward and hugged the blonde. to comfort her, yes, that was what she wanted to do. besides, she really liked hugging people.

rain is perf. period.

so, rain was officially unbelievable. josephine would gape at her with raised eyebrows but it would be impolite and she was determined not to lower herself so much. she contented with narrowing her eyes once again and pouting her lips angrily. »seriously, rainbow, get yourself together. ever heard of courtesy? call me by my name or disappear from my sight right now!« she exclaimed because it was driving her crazy. everything. the control and the glamour and the disobedient rain who was so adorable but josephine couldn't get rid of her anger. there was no way she'd like someone like rain. never. how could she like someone who talks to flowers and is so immensely optimistic and wears flower crowns and, the worst, calls her josie? »don't tell me what to do, you... you hippie,« she retorted, somehow proud of herself for such an accurate mark, although she knew, deep down, that it will not hurt rain, for it seemed she accepted everything positively. even worse, she'll probably think it's a compliment or something, and she wanted to growl loudly because she felt horrible. rainbow made her feel awful, because she was free and josephine was not. her surname and her family were a cage, but it was all for her own good. she needed that if she wanted to succeed. »don't even think about it, flower lover. stuck that tulip in your hair if it makes you feel happy, leave me alone.« her tone was poisonous almost; she was like a snake, hissing dangerously, ready to run away any moment. but there was this little problem, again. suddenly she was caught in a tight hug and her body freezed. no way, was her first thought. she couldn't be that bold, could she? josephine was left speechles and incapable of moving even the smallest muscle, so she stood there with eyes wide open and a generally shocked expression.after a few moments, she finally managed to utter: »w-what are you doing?«

i really like josephine! :3

she was still observing josephine with fascinated look in her eyes. she seemed almost magical to her; she was pretty and she had some coldness on her. it was almost like she could be a winter fairy! she was absolutely beautiful and rain felt happy that she knew her. she chose to ignore her tone and her not-that-nice words because she could somehow sense that deep inside she was hurting. she just wasn’t very aware of that most of the time. so she just smiled at her and shook her head no. ”oh, but I can’t just go! I really really like you!” she announced and smiled because the reason seemed perfectly good to her. she even used her name! she liked the sound of her name on josie’s lips. she giggled when josie called her a hippie – a lot of people said that and aunt ann explained her a very long time ago that in fact yes, they were hippies and that she grew up in hippie community, so she honestly didn’t mind being called that. ”it was just a suggestion, josie,” she said with a wide smile that was supposed to calm the blonde down a bit. she liked dealing with people and it didn’t really matter if they agreed to that or not. she wanted to help, always. she was so in love with everything and everyone that she didn’t even know how to do things any differently. she sighed a little, just like she would be dealing with especially impatient kid. ”I do stuck tulips in my hair all the time. and I make crowns from flowers to wear too! they are really lovely, you know! but I also know that it would make you happy as well if you would let me do that,” she nodded her head in agreement with her words. yes it would! ”and it would also suit you!” she added after a second of silence. tulips suited anyone, that much she knew. and then she hugged josie because 1.) she liked hugging and 2.) josie seemed like she could use a hug and last, but not least 3.) she really wanted to hug her for a long time now. ”I am giving you a hug,” she said, her voice much quieter now because she didn’t feel the need to be loud next to her ear. ”you seemed like you could use a hug,” she added. what else could she say? she smiled to herself; hugs were the best!

i think we could slowly finish this, what do you say?

amazing. it was probably the first time in her life that it actually bothered her that someone really likes her. usually, she'd be proud and satisfied and she'd smile and maybe remark something, but not this time. funny, how that good feeling she had in the pit of her stomach in the morning turned out to be completely wrong – not only was she kind of tired due to the lack of sleep but everyone seemed to turn against her, from an unknown reason. or at least she herself thought so, because rain would rather improve most people's day by just sharing her kindness with them. josephine, on the other hand, was just wondering how could she get rid of her. »whatever,« she muttered and purposely ignored her wide smile and her words. but she just couldn't miss rain's monologue about flower crowns and similar hippie stuff, because she involved josephine and it wasn't right. never would she let anyone stuck flowers in her hair because it was inappropriate and the stems are dirty and it was generally horrible. »it ceirtanly wouldn't make me happy because it looks stupid and it would tarnish my hair. i'm not into hippie stuff, i am a lady, period.« she shook her head and tighten her lips because really, was it possible to get anything across to rain? god, her simpleness was seriously driving her mad. and then the hug. the hug she never wanted in the first place and felt uncomfortable in. or better, she should've felt weird and uneasy and everything but nice. but apparently, her body had other ideas because when her muscles relaxed a bit, it was okay. fine. no tightness, no wish to get away as fast as possible. and that was probably the main reason for her next action – she pulled her arms from between rain's and pushed her chest back, separating them immediately. »i hate hugs. i hate hugs and i hate pink and i hate you,« she breathed out and clutched her hands into fists.

i summed it up, hope you don't mind, send me a message za nadaljevanje, you are awesome, kkay. :33

dearest josie was somehow hurting; rain was able to see that through all the layers of coldness and iciness. mean words didn’t matter, because she knew that deep down, josie didn’t mean them. rain was a really kind person who was ready to be by her side all the time and to help her however she could, even though she never expected that josie would accept that. at least not yet – she was not ready. but she will be, one day, and rain wanted to make sure that she will be there that day. she honestly liked josie very much a lot, even though that probably wouldn’t make sense to a lot of people. ”of course you are a lady, josie!” she smiled at her reassuringly. ”but it would look nice. you do realize that flower crowns are the prettiest things ever? almost as pretty as little kittens and christmas lights and rain falling down from the night sky, of course,” she had to add those because they were important too. and rain surely knew how to appreciate important things in life, even though her idea of important was… pretty extensive, to put it mildly. hugs were important too, even though this time josie pushed her away and rain looked at her almost surprised for a second before smiling again. well, she still got a hug! ”you shouldn’t hate that much, it will leave a dark spot on your soul,” she informed her and then smiled at her widely. ”well anyway, it was really really nice to see you, josie!” she said and decided she will go to the flowers now. she needed flowers. ”I hope you will have a very pleasant day,” she said and smiled widely at the other girl before turning around and walking away, murmuring a happy melody.

this is done!
